Monthly Activity Report - November 1969

GENERAL

1. During this reporting period the Coy has been employed as follows:-
31 Oct - 2 Nov Standown Vung Tau
3 Nov - 30 Nov HORSESHOE FORCE
'G' MATTERS

2. On 3 Nov 69 V Coy deployed on the Horseshoe Feature. The task of the Coy was to retrain and operate with 4/52 ARVN Bn.

3. For the training period, V Coy was organised and worked with the ARVN Bn as follows:-
V Coy HQ with 4/52 ARVN Bn HQ
Pl HQ's with ARVN Coy HQ's
V Coy Sects with ARVN Pls
The V Coy Mortars also trained and worked with the ARVN Bn Mortar Sect

4. For the first two weeks the training consisted of weapon handling and firing together with pl and coy movement and tactics.

5. For the second period of training in the last two weeks, each ARVN Coy (together with the attached V Coy Pl) was employed in turn on:-
4 Day Coy Patrol
Protection of Land Clearing Team
Defence of Horseshoe Feature
6. During this period of training, on 24 Nov 69 an ARVN Pl was ambushed by a VC group. This resulted in:-
2 NZ KIA
2 NZ WIA
3 VN WIA

'A' MATTERS
7. Medical :- The following is a summary of the weekly Health Stats :-
Prickly Heat 10
Venereal Disease 4
Other skin disease 18
Four soldiers were admitted to Hospital during the period.
Two soldiers were KIA and a further two WIA.
