Monthly Activity Report - December 1969

6 RAR/NZ (ANZAC) Bn

GENERAL

1. During the reporting period the Coy has been employed as follows:-

1 - 2 Dec Completion of training period with 4/52 ARVN Bn at Horseshoe
3 - 15 DEC Op MARSDEN with 4/52 ARVN Bn
16 - 28 DEC Op MARSDEN with 6 RAR/NZ (ANZAC) Bn
23 - 25 Aug Standown at Beach Annex

'G ' MATTERS

2. For the period of operation with the 4/52 ARVN Bn, V Coy were organised to work as cadre groups with the ARVN Bn, as they were for the training period on the Horseshoe. During this period V Coy pers located one large VC Camp with eqpt, and also one weapon was located.

On 15 DEC the 4/52 ARVN Bn returned to their parent unit and V Coy reorganised on a normal establishment. During this period V Coy were involved in three contacts and also found 3 camps/Caches.

Results were :-
Own Casualties - Nil
VC KIA - 2 (OC and Adjt K67A Hospital Unit)
VC CIA - 5
Vast amount of explosives and medical supplies.
4. One of the camps located was the K67A Hospital. A list of stores captured is attached as Annex A.

'A' MATTERS


5. Medical:- During the reporting period six soldiers were admitted to Hospital, and one soldier was medevaced to NZ. A summary of the weekly health states is as follows:-

Venereal Disease - 6
Skin Disease - 4
Otitis External - 2
Other injuries - 3

6.
Manning. Strength increases:

7. Leave: During the reporting period leave was taken as follows :-

20 soldiers R & C to Singapore
3 soldier R & C to Vung Tau
5 soldiers R & R to Hong Kong
3 soldiers R & R to Singapore
2 soldiers R & R to Taipei
5 soldiers R & R to Tokyo

8. There is still no sign of passport applications submitted to NZ Component approximately 2 months ago. As these passports are required for soldiers proceeding on R & R it is requested that this is checked.
9. Discipline :- During the period there were 24 OC's Orders and 9 CO's Orders.
